Appledore is a quaint fishing town which is positioned where the rivers Taw and the Torridge meet. A few miles up the Torridge river is Bideford, another picturesque town with a beautiful quay. Bideford has a rich history as it was once an important ship building centre and port. Across the river is Instow which, with its beach and yachts, is a real summer sun trap.
